May 2025

Program sponsored by Ron Herman, Pilgrim Surf+Supply and Mitsui & Co. through the creation of over 5 800 garments made from cotton cultivated by 134 smallholder farmers.

Program package

Decentralized wi-fi network at five schools of the area

Funding

$ 18 000

Location

Mumbwa, Central Province (Choombwa, Ninive, Lukunka, Nalubanda, Mwempe)

Return Program

For each of the 5 schools in the community, we installed Dots for’s d.CONNECT: a solar-powered and decentralized digital infrastructure that works without mobile or internet coverage. It gives students and teachers instant access to educational, agricultural, and health content—through smartphones or tablets—even in fully off-grid settings.

Designed for rural Africa, d.CONNECT is ultra-low-cost, easy to manage locally, and helps close the digital gap by turning any school into a digital hub of knowledge and opportunity.
